Prescription Drug Drop-off

UI-ESW is helping to organize the second annual Johnson County Prescription Drug Drop-Off Event coming up on Saturday, September 18th from 9:00 AM to Noon. It will be held at the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame in Iowa City (2425 Prairie Meadow Drive).

The goal of the event is to collect expired or unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs for safe disposal away from landfills and domestic sewers to better prevent contamination of natural waters. An additional goal of the event is to reduce the occurrences of prescription drug abuse and accidental ingestions many times associated with insecure in-home storage of prescription medications.

If you are willing to help out, we are in need of ESW members to assist on the day of the event with activities such as de-packaging pills, sorting, and traffic control. If you can help for all or even part of the time please let us know by writing in the comments portion of this event page or by contacting Jeremy Bril (jeremy-bril@uiowa.edu).

Thanks!
